RETO DE 31 DIAS Dia 18: MEDIAS LUNAS / HALF MOONS

Damn it I'm a couple hours late!!! I just missed the day of the challenge AGAIN!!! I'm so sorry you guys! I'm on vacation and its hard to keep up. The only good news is that I'm getting a lot of new nail polish!! So I will return with a lot to do and try!! It's Christmas for me!!!! Today as I was paying for a Halloween bowl and some nail polish the associate put all my nail polish inside the bowl :) I couldn't help to think that that would be better for me than candy!!!!

Ok so stop the bla, bla, bla and on to the challenge!

So... I began this challenge without any motivation, tried some gold and blue combo that was a total fail, and gave up. I chose to do something different instead and applied one of my untried colors: 669 from Maybelline.

I absolutely LOVED this color. The formula is very thin which allows it to dry super fast and yet it has a good coverage. I did two coats. It also has a semi-matte finish which goes really well with the shade. But I wanted it to shine, so I applied a coat of Seche Vite.

Then I also wanted to try Black Out by Kleancolor. A black and silver chunky glitter and I used it for my accent nail. It was only a couple hours later that it occurred to me that I could use this beautiful shade of grey to try to do the half moons again. I did it and I fell in love!

For the half moons I used Lush Lavendar by LA Girl Color Craze.
I liked the end result, and discovered a new pattern to love!

Have a good night sleep!!!

RETO DE 31 DÍAS Día 14: fLoReS / fLoWeRs

Happy Friday everyone!!! Today we have one of the most femenine topics in the challenge: flowers! I am not a fan of this pattern particularly, but I liked the subtle look I achieved. Look!:

Hola!!

Flower Petals: Classy-Revlon
Center of the flower: Live- LA Colors Color Craze

RETO DE 31 DIAS: Día 13 ANIMAL PRINT!!

Ohhh!!! animal print! so lovable, even more leopard print!, haha. I had planned to do a zebra print today, only because I've never tried it before, but hell noooo!! I want leopard! hee hee :D...so here it is!
I used all Revlon polishes: Sugar Glaze (Scented) as a basecoat, Stormy for the spots and Espresso for the outline of the spots (both Top Speed). I looooove my mani today!!! ^^
I also wanted to tell you that I now have a Facebook page. You can check it out clicking here.
As you may have noticed, now I'm back to writing in Spanish, that is because I feel that there are sooo many tutorials and blogs in english but so little in spanish! so I'm thinking it could be a lot more helpful to write it in Spanish, but there's still the 'Translate' tool on your right so you can also check out what I write in Spanish ;)

EN ESPAÑOL:
Hola chicas!

It's nail time!!

Hello ladies! just a quick post. I can't believe how much 'on trend' nails, nail polishes and nail art are! It was just a couple of weeks ago that Michelle Obama called a lot of attention with her greyish blue polish everybody wanted to have...and now...a NAIL CAM on E!??!!! wow!! that was absolutely awesome!!! That surprised me last night watching the Emmys 2012 and it was oh-so-cool for us nail polish addicts!
I came to the conclusion that definitely, whether you're obsessed or not, you just can't forget about your nails to complete your everyday look. Great!

RETO DE 31 DIAS: Día 12 LINEAS/ STRIPES

Hi ladies! today is day 12: ...STRIPES!! so many cool things can be done with stripes it was hard to decide! I chose to go ahead with this design I had seen a while ago on Pshiiit's blog that is done with striping tape. I did like the end result but I would recommend (if you choose to try it) to use really bright colors underneath, maybe even neon because otherwise they don't really pop.
I used purple, hot pink, red, orange and yellow but they all looked pink on the pics! This time i won't name the polishes because I think you should use other ones.
If you really like black nails this is a cool twist, check it out:

You probably noticed how I rebelled and didn't do Sunday's challenge Gradient Nails...oopsie! I just really wanted to enjoy my patriotic mani last weekend I'm sorry!! But I will do it....soon....I hope! ;)

So today we are on the day 11 and that means we are beginning with the patterns! Though as you could see, we've all used some patterns for our past creations in the challenge... but it's fun to know that now we can use any colors we want which makes this a whole lot more fun because I get to use my untrieds!!!! Yay!!!

For example this color: Spanish Moss by Revlon. I had had it for a while and never used it before and I kept seeing that Zoya Evvie and couldn't help to think of this shade. I wanted to wear it so badly!-specially since Zoya is not available in Mexico :(-  I have been pleasantly surprised by the line Colorstay of Revlon. The application is good, the brush is great to work with and the formula is so pigmented I did ONE coat. Can you believe it? It's a great cheaper choice!

Look at it isn't it the perfect shade for transitioning to fall? I'm sooo loving it :)
*I realized in the pics this color looks grey! but it isn't, it is green...just so you know

On my accent nails I used two coats of Whimsical by L.A. Girl a great nude shade and used two dotting tools of different sizes with Spanish Moss.

A day later I went on with my original idea, but I guess I still like more the look above!

¡¡¡VIVA MEXICO!!!-Day 28 INSPIRED BY A FLAG

What? What? Day 28? Haha, I'll explain: tomorrow is Mexico's independence day, but the celebrations begin tonight at midnight so I had to be prepared with my nails! And I remembered that further along on the challenge we have this topic so I will get a little bit ahead on this one.

This is Mexico's flag:

So I took the colors and came up with this:

The colors I used were:
-White On- Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear
-White Cap- China Glaze
-Cherry Red- Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear
-Bright Green- L.A. Colors Art Deco
I first painted my nails white and then put a coat of White Cap which is a beautiful gold shimmer. Then I painted my tips diagonally with Cherry Red and finally with bright Green. At the end I put golden striping tape I got at Sally Beauty Supply. I came up with this design because I didn't want to do the flag so literal.

Then I got a little crazy and with an Ultra Fine Tipped Sharpie wrote ¡¡¡Viva Mexico!!! on my ring fingernail!

Have a great weekend!!^^

31 DAY CHALLENGE Day 9: RAINBOW NAILS :) ...so sweet!!! / UÑAS DE ARCOIRIS

Hey girls! Today's menu: Rainbow Nails. I must admit I was not excited about this challenge and I postponed it as much as I could because I was thinking: rainbow? that reminds me of me in kindergarden carrying around my Rainbow Brite doll!-don't get me wrong I loved her so much, but this week I had to go to take care of some affairs and I kept thinking: the people at the offices are going to look at me like: what's with this lady and her toddler nails?!...
Aww!! Remember??

So I tried to think of a way in which I would enjoy them and I came up with the spun sugar nails!!! And now I love the way they look!!!^^

Here is the tutorial I watched:

Based on that, what I did was this:

I first put all the drops of all the colors at the same time on the surface (a yoghurt cap) and waited about 5 minutes for them to dry and become "stringy". I used about 4 large drops of every color on each hand.
The colors I used were:
-Base color: White On- Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear
-Noite Quente- Maybelline Colorama
-165-Bissú
-Green with Envy -Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear
-Sunshine Sparkle- Revlon
-Snappy Sorbet- Sally Hansen Insta-Dri
-Cherry Red- Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear

I know, I know. The rainbow should have 7 colors but I wanted to do only the colors we have done in the challenge :)

I didn't go nail by nail but color by color. Which means I did all the purple on the 5 nails of a hand, and then blue, and so on -to save time AND polish!-

When I finished I felt like if I didn't apply a topcoat it would be too vulnerable and I loved this mani so much I wanted to protect it. But I must say it is hard to apply a topcoat on this spun nails!!! And in the end I regretted it because it totally takes away the cool 3D effect the chubby strings had (shown below). Now they just look like plain lines :(

I also would like to say that this dries fast! I thought it would take forever but no, even before I applied my topcoat it was already superdry to the point that I could squash the little clumps and nothing happened o.O
It took me overall about two hours, but I had my baby running around and even had to change a diaper! Lol!!

Anyhow I love it!

I know, I stole some of my baby's toys for the pics! ^^

31 DAY CHALLENGE Day 8: METALLIC NAILS!!!!

Hey guys!! Doing this nails was such an adventure! When I started setting up all my materials to paint my nails in the dining room table my husband passed by and said "Careful not to knock the remover over on the table"...to which I responded "of course not, it is closed, look" ...then I began to paint my nails.

Remember I told you about Lush Lavendar a beautiful silver-lilac shimmer polish by L.A. Colors color craze? Well I did two coats and it was still very sheer and since I definitely didn't plan to put 5 coats on I changed plans. I decided to apply a coat of Grey Matter by Rimmel underneath which is -as its name indicates- a plain creamy gray.

I ended up a bit disappointed because even when it did cover up well it made my Lush Lavendar look just silver! It took away all the reflections it has. :(

I did an accent nail with a lightning bolt and it was so hard to do!!!! Lol! I guess it was because I was a bit impatient and ruined it the first time so I had to do it again. It turned out ok I think.

And just when I reached for my Seche Vite guess what happened? I knocked over the polish remover on the wooden dining table!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OMG! I had opened it when I corrected my lightning bolts and didn't close it!!!! The worst thing was that I tried to dry it with the first thing I could grab: cotton. Worst idea ever because it removed a layer of the paint. Oops! Catastrophe!
I guess if I hadn't done that it would've evaporated and not done so much damage but well, what's done its done. I'm telling you this to remind you to be extra careful when you're working with nail polish remover and nail polish. :( though in mind I think my husband jinxed it! Lol!

Well, that was my accident with these metallic nails.

Have a beautiful week and please don't forget to check all the other metallic manis!

31 Day Challenge Day 7: BLACK & WHITE

Hey ladies!!! TGIF right?? :) so today we're doing the classic combo of black and white and I think maybe because of the mimes in their black and white striped shirts it reminds me of France.

When I saw this post I definitely fell in love with it and I took this theme as an opportunity to finally try it. I was a bit scared that it wouldn't turn out very well because white has always been a pain in the back to apply for me. This formula wasn't the exception. I used Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear White On. I had to apply it in 3 fast streaks. I did two coats and then the dotting with Circuits from L.A. Girl Color Craze and 2 different sized dotting tools. For the accent nails I used the colors the other way around.

Finally don't forget to check my partners so you can get tons of ideas of black and white manis!!
